Acupuncture is an energy medicine based upon thousands of years of clinical knowledge. Classical Acupuncture has a foundation in the Taoist Five Elements of Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood. These Five Elements are all around us in nature. Our health, happiness and prosperity depend on a balance of these Five Elements within us and with our environment. Classical Five-Element Acupuncture has it's foundation in the earliest known Classic of Acupuncture.

This is a complete system of medicine which treats illness at its root or Causative Factor. As Jung commented, "The main interest of my work is not concerned with the treatment of neuroses (symptoms) but with the approach to the numinous. But the fact is that the approach to the numinous is the real therapy and in as much as you attain to the numinous experiences, you are released from the curse of pathology." (Jung, Letters)

The symptoms of disease in truth tell us very little about the pathology that exists within. When we seek to balance the spiritual aspect within us that is where true healing begins.

Acupuncture is a physical therapy which heals body, mind and spirit. Acupuncture is also a form of Energy Psychology that can touch the deepest levels of our psyche. The Ancient Sages of Oriental Medicine knew this long before Western forms of Psychology existed. This form of treatment still exists, as it has been passed down from teacher to student as an oral tradition for thousands of years. Western Medicine seeks to break aspects of healing down to the smallest component. Oriental Medicine has preserved a mystery based in clinical science, with the supernatural, the sacred, the holy, and the transcendent spirit as the basis of real therapy.

The Ling Shu is one book of the Huang Di Nei Jing, the "Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine", which states:

"Acupuncture, first and foremost, is based upon the spirit."

Modern styles of Acupuncture, also known as TCM, or Traditional Chinese Medicine, are based on treating symptoms.

Classical Five-Element Acupuncture seeks to treat the Causative Factor, that primary element that has a tendency to become imbalanced within us. By focusing on the Causative Factor and the spiritual imbalance, disease is made whole and illness has no place to grasp hold.

Only a certified Classical Five-Element practitioner can diagnose and treat the Causative Factor and use the Acupuncture Points for their Spiritual Healing.

This style of medicine is an art, practiced only by a handful of dedicated professionals worldwide. It is transmitted only through oral teaching as it has been for thousands of years. Few are accepted into its lineage.

May I ask a question using Phone or E-mail?
Oriental Medicine and Classical Five-Element Acupuncture are complete medical systems, with many possible diagnoses. We only give general answers over the phone or e-mail. For a specific and complete Traditional Diagnosis we request that you schedule a consultation. You may request a 10-minute free consultation. Traditional Diagnosis takes approximately 2 hours.

Does Acupuncture hurt?
The needles used are sterile, very fine, solid needles and pain is rarely ever felt. You may feel a distended feeling or a feeling of pressure on some acu-points. Pain as associated with a hypodermic needle used in Western Medicine is not felt. You will feel Qi sensation, or Da Qi, which is a profound sensation where you feel energy move within the body. This is not painful.

What is Clinical Chinese Herbal Medicine?
Herbal Medicine is a natural and effective way to treat the body. Herbs are plants and substances found in the natural world, which have properties to heal disease and prevent illness. In Chinese Medicine there are thousands of herbs, today, over 400 substances used. The Oriental Medical Doctor will mix several raw or powdered herbs together, which the patient will drink as a Tea. We are able to customize formulas for people's individual conditions. Clinical Chinese Herbal Medicine is available in the form of Teas, Tablets, Tinctures and Powders.

Do you handle Workers Compensation, or Personal Injury?
Acupuncturists are Primary Care Physicians under the Workers Compensation (WC) System. Under the Industrial Medical Council Guidelines for treatment, Acupuncture is recommended for many Sprain / Strain type injuries. Should you have any questions as to how to receive Acupuncture under the WC system, please call our office.

How much does it cost?
The initial examination and treatment (two hours) costs $150. Subsequent treatments (one hour) cost $90. Most insurance plans recognize Acupuncture as a covered benefit, but each policy holder should check with his or her representative or guidebook. Unless prior arrangements have been made, all visits are payable on the day of treatment. *Medical treatments may be tax deductible.
